▲ PRACTICE 06 · SECURITY

Your cyber risk is keeping you up at night.

Top7 puts a senior security leader in your business in days — to own your security program, lead SOC 2, HIPAA or CMMC readiness and turn security reviews from a deal blocker into a deal closer.

Signs you need a CISO now

  • An enterprise customer sent a security questionnaire, and nobody knows how to answer it.

  • A SOC 2, HIPAA, CMMC or cyber insurance deadline is coming.

  • Your board is asking about cyber risk, and you don't have a clear answer.

  • You've had an incident or a near miss, and you need a leader now.

Three ways to bring us in

Fractional CISO: A senior security leader part-time and ongoing, who owns the program and answers to your board and customers.

Interim CISO: A full-time leader for a set period — when your security leader departs, during an active incident, or with an audit underway.

Project: One defined job with a clear finish line, like a security assessment, an incident response tabletop, cyber insurance readiness or an AI governance policy.

Many clients ask to bring their Top7 leader on full-time as they grow. Our contracts allow it — a chance to try before you buy.

Your first 90 days

Days 0–30: Stabilize. Assess your security posture, close the most dangerous gaps and put an incident response plan in place.

Days 30–60: Execute. Build governance, policies and a risk framework mapped to SOC 2, HIPAA, CMMC or NIST CSF, plus vendor risk and board reporting.

Days 60–90: Hand off. Document the program, train your team, and define the full-time CISO profile if you need one.

Common questions

How much time will the CISO spend with us?

It depends on what your business needs. We take time to understand your environment first, then set the level of involvement — anywhere from about 8 hours a month up to 60.

What does it cost compared with a full-time CISO?

Typically between less than 10% and 60% of what a full-time CISO costs you. You pay for the senior judgment you need, not a full-time salary.

Can we hire our Top7 CISO full-time?

Yes. Many clients grow into the need for a full-time leader, and our contracts allow you to hire your Top7 teammate when you get there. It's a chance to try before you buy.

Isn't a fractional CISO just a compliance consultant?

A consultant hands you a report. A CISO owns the program, answers to your board and customers, and leads when something goes wrong.
